Boys & Girls by Alabama Shakes

If you love music that sounds nothing like what’s flooding the airwaves, then you must check out the debut album from Alabama Shakes titled Boys & Girls.

I discovered Alabama Shakes purely on accident while looking for indie music videos on YouTube. Once I heard one song, I was hooked.

The best way to describe the sound of Alabama Shakes is roots rock or rockabilly and the voice of lead singer Brittany Howard reminds me of Etta James. It’s pure ear candy.

Alabama Shakes formed in 2009 in Athens, Alabama and is comprised of Brittany Howard (vocals), Heath Fogg (guitar), Zac Cockrell (bass), and Steve Johnson (drums).

I can’t get enough of the song Hold On and the more I listen to I found You the more I love it.
